Safety
Working around high pressures and temperatures and electrical, rotating and heavy equipment, being in confined spaces, handling chemicals, welding and cutting and many other HVAC-related activities can be dangerous if not done properly.
As one of our core values, safety is at the heart of everything we do at MEP Services. We take a proactive approach to HVAC safety by employing full-time risk management specialists.
Key elements in our plan to maintain an effective safety culture include:
- Management commitment, involvement, and accountability
- Regular training of all our employees, including field and office personnel
- Constant communication
- Full accountability
We invest substantially and regularly in safety training for all employees. All of our steamfitter foremen, HVAC service technicians and operations staff complete the OSHA 30-hour course. All other tradesmen, both journeyman and apprentice, complete the OSHA 10-hour course. Additional training is provided in specific areas such as new hire orientation, weekly toolbox talks, scaffolding, confined space entry, forklift operator and aerial lift certification, respiratory protection, fire watch, manlift usage, first aid and CPR.
We are very proud of having received awards for our safety record which includes working over 2,500,000 man-hours without a Lost Time Injury.
When we have them, we also require all of our partners and subcontractors have safety commitments similar to our own.
