Fred Williams Supports South Boston Best in American Living Double Award-Winning Project

Fred Williams, an Equans MEP Services company, delivered and installed the HVAC systems for the award-winning 7INK residence in South Boston. At the 2023 National Association of Home Builders Best in American Living Awards Program held during the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, 7INK was awarded Platinum/1st place for Innovative Housing and Best in the North Atlantic Region.
7INK is a LEED Gold Inclusive Living™ residence with 353 rentable units in 180 apartments. To make first-class living more affordable, Inclusive Living™ means 7INK units come fully furnished and include high-speed internet, TV and streaming service, all utilities, kitchen appliances, bi-weekly apartment cleaning, and 15,000 square feet of common gathering and work-from-home spaces along with complimentary cold brew and kombucha.
National Development is the owner/developer of 7INK, and Cranshaw Construction was the general contractor. Fred Williams was the HVAC contractor supplying:
- A horizontal heat pump system for amenities levels 1,2 and 15 and stacked heat pumps for residential levels 3 to 14
- A condenser water system tempered for heat and cooling utilizing a cooling tower, plate and frame heat exchanger and condensing boilers
- Ducted make-up air and general exhaust systems with multiple energy recovery units
- Stair and elevator pressurization systems
- Post-event smoke purge system
- A fuel oil Storage tank, pumping and leak detection systems, including fuel oil supply/return and secondary containment piping to an emergency generator
- Ventilation and exhaust systems for laundry and mechanical spaces
- A Building Management System to control and monitor all HVAC and life safety systems.
